Sean Kullman

Sean Kullman is the President of the Global Initiative for Boys & Men (GIBM), a non-profit that advocates for boys and men and the women who love them. With GIBM, he helped create the Boys and Men’s Well-Being Index (BAM Index), the world’s first site dedicated to aggregating data to support the well-being of boys and men. He is also author of the blog on Substack called In His Words. He is an educator, writer, researcher, fund-raiser, and community engagement organizer.

Sean has worked in the public and private sector to strengthen the lives of boys, girls, men, and women in academics and sports. His opinion pieces in the New York Times and many articles since speak to his knowledge regarding the well-being of boys and men in education, physical and emotional health, parental rights, careers, and the absolute need for a more recognized male narrative in the public discourse, particularly in government, academia, and media.

He was recognized by Dr. Marc Sherman (long time advocate on gender issues) for his New York Times opinion pieces and has worked on multiple projects with the Coalition to Create a White House Council on Boys and Men and the formation of the Global Initiative for Boys & Men.

He recently created a sexual harassment, sexual assault, assault, and paternal fraud survey specifically focused on male cohorts using contextual information from the American Association of Universities (AAU) Climate Survey on Sexual Assault and Sexual Misconduct and original questions constructed by the GIBM members Philip W. Cook and Sean Kullman. (To their knowledge, some of these questions have never been asked on any survey).

Sean’s interest in boys’ and men’s representation in media, academic, and policy action comes from his many years of teaching in the public and private sectors and research into gender reporting and public policy.
