Fact or Myth? Title IX applies only to females.
Myth: Both males and females are protected by Title IX.
Title IX is a federal mandate that protects male and female students from sex discrimination in education. The law says that students cannot be denied participation in any school program or subjected to any discrimination based on their sex. It also applies to faculty and staff. The text of Title IX is clear and protects both males and females equally against sex discrimination in education:
“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance” https://www.justice.gov/crt/title-ix-education-amendments-1972
