Mark J. Perry, PhD
Dr. Mark J. Perry is professor emeritus at the University of Michigan and scholar emeritus at the American Enterprise Institute and is currently a senior fellow at Do No Harm.
Dr Perry brings his data expertise in support of The Boys Initiative. He has notably revised and updated the 100+ item list “For Every 100 Girls….” which was first introduced in 2011 by TBI’s Advisory Board member, Dr. Tom Mortenson. This is a widely circulated and informative collection of important statistics on the well-being of boys and young men, and encapsulates the challenges faced by today’s boys.
Dr. Perry annually updates about half of the items on the original list with the most recent data available and added some new items. He demonstrates empirically the many significant differences between boys (men) and girls (women) on many measures. Most notably, those of health and educational outcomes, educational and learning disabilities, suicide and homicide rates, incarceration rates, alcohol and drug abuse, homelessness, and behavior problems leading to suspension or expulsion in school.
